More early voting sites expected to shorten lines

Wake County voters planning to cast early ballots will have more options starting Thursday.

Long lines greeted many voters during the first week of early voting when Wake County had only nine locations open. That roster of early voting sites will expand to 20 starting Thursday.

Each of the state's 100 counties sets its own times and places for absentee voting, so the availability across the state varies. Early in-person voting continues through Nov. 5 and gives voters the chance to register to vote and vote on the same day. Election Day is Nov. 8.

Voters can find more early voting information at their local boards of election or use the State Board of Elections' early voting lookup tool.

WRAL News has also provided a way for you to look up where and when you can cast an early ballot for the 22 counties in and around the Triangle. Click on the "plus" sign next to the county name to get the days and hours early voting will be available in each location. We also have compiled a personalized ballot and voter guide to help you make your ballot decisions.
