Law enforcement issued 81 charges Saturday night during a checkpoint in Wake County searching for impaired drivers, according to the Wake County Sheriff's Office.

Spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens said that authorities cited eight drivers for driving while impaired and two for provisional DWI at Poole and Barwell roads, just outside the Raleigh city limits.

Other citations included 24 for driving without a license, 10 for driving with a revoked license, eight felony or misdemeanor drug charges and four child safety violations.

Authorities also recovered a stolen vehicle, Stephens said.

Along the sheriff's office, the checkpoint was run by state troopers, the state Department of Health and Human Services and the Raleigh, Cary, Holly Springs, Knightdale, North Carolina State University and Zebulon police departments.
