Missing Wake County 14-year-old boy found safe after sheriff puts out notice

A missing Raleigh teen returned home on Thursday after a WRAL reporter saw him while setting up camera equipment.

WRAL reporter Willie Daniely was attempting to shoot video of the neighborhood when he saw 14-year-old Preston Wright, the subject of a missing person notice from the Wake County Sheriff's Office.

Wright told Daniely he ran away from home to a friend's house. The friend's mother told Wright he needed to return home.

Daniely walked the boy home at his request.

The discovery happened hours after Wake County deputies announced they were searching for Wright.

Deputies said he was previously last seen in the area of Bethune Drive, close to Lake Wheeler Road and Tryon Road near southwest Raleigh.

Deputies used a K-9 team to try to find Wright.
