Wake survey: 69% of TV viewers get their news from WRAL

In a recent survey conducted by Wake County, it was found that the majority of residents get their news from TV, and nearly 70% of those residents turn to WRAL as their primary source for local news.

Wake survey: 69% of TV viewers get their news from WRAL

In a recent survey conducted by Wake County, it was found that the majority of residents get their news from TV, and nearly 70% of those residents turn to WRAL as their primary source for local news.

The survey polled over 2500 residents in the county and asked them about key issues of importance. It also asked about their preferred news outlet. 55% of residents reported they get news and information from local TV. 69% of those reported they watch WRAL, which is a 45 point advantage over the nearest competitor.

The team at WRAL NEWS is both honored and humbled by this. "We don’t take the community’s trust for granted," said WRAL News Director Rick Gall. "We’re committed every day to serving the community by helping people become informed, protect their families and live better."

The survey results are strikingly similar to Nielsen ratings for March 2023, In which 63% of the key advertising target of adults 25-54 years old got their news from WRAL News. At WRAL News, the team is dedicated to bringing our community the most up-to-date and accurate information.

"This is our home, and what matters to you matters to us," says WRAL Station Manager Heather Gray. "We take pride in being a part of our community and strive to provide the news and information that matters most to our viewers."

The survey also showed 47 percent of residents get news and information from social media, and 54 percent of that group reported getting news from Facebook. WRAL has the most-liked Facebook page in the Triangle and provides updates on many stories each day on social media pages.
