Wake County Sheriff's Office donates 600 gifts to Angel Tree program
On Friday, the Wake County Sheriff's Office will donate close to 600 items, including toys, bicycles and clothes, to the Salvation Army of Wake County's Angel Tree program.
The gifts will fulfill the wishes of 100 children whose parents may not have the means to provide presents to them this holiday season.
According to organizers, more than 7,700 children registered for the Angel Tree program this year, and most angels were fulfilled.
Due to COVID-19, the program started early this year as part of the Salvation Army's Rescue Christmas campaign, which acknowledges the need is greater this year because of the pandemic.
Dec. 11 marks the deadline to drop off Angel Tree gifts at the Judy D. Zelnak Center of Hope at 1863 Capital Boulevard, but you can still donate to the cause online.
