Business owner says truck, trailer broken into in span of 2 weeks

A small business owner in Wake County said his work trailer and his truck were broken into - in a span of 2 weeks.

Daniel Hayes with Diamond Mobile Detailing told WRAL News the trailer was stolen last Thursday and about 6,000 dollars worth of equipment was taken. The trailer was recovered Sunday morning, but the owner said the damage will be hard to repair.

“They did end up dropping the trailer on the ground and left it there,” said Hayes.

He found it outside of Garner at an apartment complex, with thousands worth of tools and equipment gone.

"All of these rocks right here had bottles sealants and compounds. They would leave just a little bit of something, but obviously, they knew what they were taking," said Hayes.

Hayes said he believes he was targeted.

“Somebody has to know my schedule for that to take place," said Hayes. "Both of these occurrences happened while I was out of town conveniently.”

Hayes says it’ll take quite some time to recover from the losses, but has a message for the thief.

"I don’t know if you really understand how much you took for me, but I will come back from this," said Hayes.

Hayes said he's investing in trackers for both of his vehicles and encourages other business owners and people to keep a close eye their vehicles.
