Supreme Tradition Ground Cinnamon is one of several ground cinnamon products at the center of an FDA alert.

There's a new FDA alert for lead found in several ground cinnamon products.

Ever since high levels of lead were found in WanaBana children's apple cinnamon fruit pouches, the FDA has been searching for lead in other products.

They found several types of ground cinnamon with lead levels that were elevated. The FDA has recommended that the firms voluntarily recall these products, which were sold at Dollar Tree, Family Dollar and other specialty supermarkets.

  • Supreme Tradition Ground Cinnamon was sold at Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores.
  • Swad Cinnamon Powder was sold at Patel Brothers stores.
  • Marcum Cinnamon Ground was sold at Save A Lot stores.
  • La Fiesta Cinnamon Ground was sold at La Superior stores.

The FDA has posted lot codes and best buy dates of affected products that should be thrown out.

While the levels of lead in these cinnamon products is considered elevated, up to 3.4 parts per million, they are significantly lower than the highest levels of lead found in apple cinnamon fruit pouches, which was 5,110 ppm.

It’s not clear if the cinnamon involved in the most recent FDA alert is from the same source as the fruit pouches.
