Virginia man dies following jet ski accident at Lake Gaston

A 39-year-old man from Virginia Beach, Va. died Friday afternoon following a jet ski accident at Gaston Lake in Halifax County, officials with the N.C. Wildlife Resource Commission said Saturday.

A 39-year-old man from Virginia died Friday afternoon following a jet ski accident at Lake Gaston in Halifax County, officials with the N.C. Wildlife Resource Commission said Saturday. 

The two vehicles collided around 11:30 a.m. near Hamlin Creek, officials said. Marcus Jeffrey, of Virginia Beach, Va., was taken to Halifax Regional Medical Center, where he died around 2 p.m. 

Dan Sanderlin, 37, the man operating the other jet ski, was charged with reckless and negligent operation of a motor boat. 

It wasn't clear what caused the collision, but no other injuries were reported.
