Top US, NC officials to give update Wednesday on VinFast's NC project

Many top leaders will meet at Central Carolina Community College Wednesday to give an update on the progress of VinFast’s footprint here in North Carolina.

This comes just weeks after the company shared news that the launch of the new electric vehicle company in Chatham County will be delayed.

VinFast executives, Governor Roy Cooper and other leaders will discuss how the project is moving along.

Leaders said this campus will serve as a workforce development training facility for VinFast.

Karen Howard with the Chatham County Board of Commissioners talked about that move.

"I feel good about it," she said. "I know they've kept an ongoing conversation with the county and with the school district; the community college and that's what I think should be happening right now. They want to build a pipeline of future employees and I think our students are the best poised to be some of those starting employees."

VinFast will have two of their vehicles on hand for test drives.

The event will be held at the Moore Center at Central Carolina Community College. It begins at 3 p.m.
