The Coast Guard received a report from the Portuguese container ship Maersk Kleven, which was about 20 nautical miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, that a 29-year-old Romanian man aboard was experiencing abdominal pain.

A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Elizabeth City, met the vessel and lowered a rescue swimmer.

The man was hoisted to the helicopter and flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va. He was reported in stable condition.

The Maersk Kleven continued to the Port of Antwerp, Belgium.
