Uwharrie Charter takes game 1 of the 1A state championship over North Moore
Uwharrie Charter held off North Moore to win game one of the 2023 1A baseball state championship series, 2-1.
The game was played at Ting Park in Holly Springs.
North Moore managed to load the bases with one out in the top of the seventh inning, but the Eagles completed a double-play to end the game in thrilling fashion.
The Eagles only need one more win to take the best-of-three series.
Freshman Jake Hunter pitched for Uwharrie Charter. Senior Ethan Dunlap pitched for North Moore.
The first pitch of game two will be at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.
