Updates to HSOT's Statewide Top 25 & area code rankings for girls basketball

There have been some small updates to HighSchoolOT's Statewide Top 25 and area code rankings for girls basketball ahead of Thanksgiving.

The main change in the Top 25 is the introduction of United Faith Christian Academy, which is 3-0. UFCA defeated two ranked teams in good games last week: Providence Day and Northside Christian.

North Pitt dropped from No. 19 to No. 22 after a 64-53 loss to No. 11 Terry Sanford.

Here are a few things about how our rankings work in girls' basketball:

• Rankings are updated weekly and released on Monday
• All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
• There is a separate top 15 for the state's six area codes that is also updated weekly
• Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
• Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
