One of the University of North Carolina football players charged with underage drinking on the night that a fellow student was killed in a crash has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to complete community service and substance abuse assessment and treatment.

If Malaki Hamrick, 19, complies with those conditions, his charge of underage possession/consumption of alcohol will be dismissed.

Police say Hamrick was partying with a group at Still Life on Franklin Street on Jan. 21 and was drinking underage.

Later that evening, UNC student Molly Elizabeth Rotunda, 20, of Greensboro, died in a crash in which authorities say alcohol and speed were contributing factors.

Warrants show Shaw allegedly bought three bottles of tequila at Still Life.

Hamrick, Shaw and Rice are players on the UNC football team.
