1 dead, several others hospitalized after 4-car crash on US 70 in Durham
Multiple people were injured and one person died in a four-car crash on U.S. Highway 70 in Durham.
Shortly after 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, officers with the Durham Police Department responded to a crash on U.S. 70 between Lynn Road and Pleasant Drive that involved multiple cars.
According to police, a woman traveling eastbound on U.S. 70 in a 2007 Chevrolet HHR crossed the center median and hit a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado in the westbound lanes.
The cars crashed into two other westbound vehicles, a Jeep Cherokee and a Honda Civic.
The driver and a young girl in the Chevrolet HHR were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. On June 12, police announced that the driver of the HRR, Kathy Bunch, died from her injuries. Bunch was 44 and a Durham resident.
The people in the other cars were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
U.S. 70 was closed in the area for several hours.
