Two Roosters ice cream has brought back one of its most bizarre flavors.

For the month of October, the shop, which has locations at Person Street Plaza and in north Raleigh, has added pizza-flavored ice cream to the menu.

The business first served the flavor, which tastes like eating a cold slice of cheese pizza, at the 2016 North Carolina State Fair. Two Roosters is part of a group of local merchants who share time at the Got to Be NC tent at the fair.

Owner Jared Plummer talked about how he gets inspired to create unique flavors like this during the Out and About podcast this summer.

Other State Fair-inspired flavors offered this month include a chicken-and-waffle ice cream, which has a sweet waffle base with chicken caramel sauce and specks of baked chicken skins.

The funnel cake flavor features a funnel cake base and powdered sugar glaze, while the cotton candy flavor includes layers of spun cotton candy sugar.

The corn-on-the-cob-with-caramel flavor features a cooked down corn base with butter, salt, cream and a ripple of caramel.

The fried apple dough flavor is made with blended fried apple dough.

Two Roosters is located at Person Street Plaza, 215 E. Franklin St., and at Greystone Village, 7713 Lead Mine Road. They also operate a food truck that travels to local festivals.

No word on if these flavors will be making an appearance at the State Fair this year. The fair runs Oct. 17-27 at the State Fairgrounds.

Two Roosters has been a finalist for best local ice cream in the WRAL.com Voters' Choice Awards. The awards are currently accepting nominations for this year's categories.
