Two motorcyclists killed in Fayetteville in less than 24 hours

A motorcycle rider in Fayetteville was killed Sunday evening when their bike collided with a car, prompting authorities to shut down a portion of a major street while police investigated the crash.

A motorcycle rider in Fayetteville was killed Sunday evening when their bike collided with a car, prompting authorities to shut down a portion of a major street while police investigated the crash.

It was the second fatal crash reported in Fayetteville involving a motorcycle in less than 24 hours.

Authorities said in a written statement that police were called shortly after 7:30 p.m. to Bingham Drive at the intersection of Lakeridge Drive.

The motorcyclist died at the scene and the driver of the car that collided with the bike was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police did not immediately identify the motorcycle rider or the driver of the car.

Around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a crash involving the motorcycle and a sedan on Yadkin Road near Horseshoe Road.

The motorcyclist, identified as 22-year-old Patrick A. McDill from Fort Bragg, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the sedan, identified as Jasmyne D. Russell-Dicker, 24, of Sanford charged with driving while impaired and unsafe movement causing injury to a motorcyclist. Russell-Dicker was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Yadkin Road was closed in both directions between Bonanza Drive and Summer Hill Road for about five hours while authorities investigated the crash.
