Two Marines charged in shooting outside restaurant

Two Camp Lejeune Marine have been charged in a weekend shooting outside a Jacksonville restaurant that wounded three people, authorities said Thursday.

Sgt. Michael S. Haridat, 28, of Bronx, N.Y., was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He also faces several drug-related charges.

Lance Cpl. Erwin J. Rodriguez Jr., 21, of Arlington, Va., also was charged in the incident, according to the Marine Corps, but details about the charges against him weren't provided.

Both are riflemen assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division

Three people were shot in the parking lot of La Maracas, on Lejeune Boulevard, at about 4 a.m. Sunday, police said. The shooting followed an argument that began inside the restaurant.

The Marine Corps is cooperating with Jacksonville police in the investigation of the shooting.
