Two Durham police officers were injured and people were hit by a driver trying to get away from police on Friday night.

Durham police officers responded around 8 p.m. Friday to a party at Forest Hill Park after closing hours.

Police said officers saw a driver "operating carelessly and recklessly surrounded by a crowd."

As officers approached the car, police said the driver tried to drive away, striking bystanders, parked cars and injuring the two officers before crashing the car.

The bystanders and officers had minor injuries, police said.

Police are searching for the driver.
