Two dead in fiery car crash in Wilson

Two people have died after a single car accident in Wilson.

On Monday, Wilson police officers were called to the 1500 block of Stantonsburg Rd. for a single-car accident just before 2 a.m.

Witnesses said one person had been ejected and the car was on fire.

When officers arrived they found Shamerah Ward, 30, had been ejected from the car and died from her injuries.

After the fire was extinguished, police found the driver dead inside the car.

A preliminary investigation showed the car left the roadway and hit a tree.
