Two charged in connection with fire that killed Lexington fire captain

2 Charged after house fire killed Lexington, NC fire captain

Lexington police have arrested two people in connection with a fire that killed a fire captain.

Lexington Fire Captain Ronnie Metcalf died after a house fire Monday on West 5th Street.

Detectives arrested Brandon Alan Hoskins, 31, of Lexington, and Stacie Blair Stegall, 37, of Lexington, Saturday for misdemeanor breaking and entering into the house that burned. Both were charged with one additional count each of misdemeanor breaking and entering to that location.

Immediately following their arrest, Lexington police also searched the room that Hoskins and Stegall were illegally occupying at 38 Mill Street. When serving the search warrant, investigators found evidence of illegal drug possession. Hoskins and Stegall were also charged with felony possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hoskins and Stegall were taken to the Davidson County Jail and are being held without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
