President Trump approved FEMA federal disaster relief for 15 North Carolina counties affected by Hurricane Isaias.

The funding is available to state and local governments and certain nonprofits organizations. Aid will go to repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe storms and flooding in southeast counties.

Relief can also be used to hazard mitigation efforts across the entire state.

Hurricane Isaias was a Category 1 destructive storm that came across the East Coast from July 30 to August 5.

The town of Oak Island saw more than $10 million of damage from the storm. Ocean Isle, also in Brunswick County, saw large fires due to destruction from the hurricane.

Tornadoes spawned by the storm damaged an entire neighborhood in Windsor in Bertie County and killed two people.
