Truck driver dies in Moore County wreck

The driver of a tractor-trailer died Tuesday when his rig overturned near Robbins, authorities said.

The accident happened about 3:30 p.m. on N.C. Highway 24/27, near Marley Road and Robbins Crossroads in Moore County.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The driver’s name and cause of the crash was not immediately released.

The AberdeenTimes.com reported that the driver had to be extricated from the tractor-trailer, which came to rest on its side. A helicopter arrived to transport the man, but he was declared dead at the scene, according to the article.

A special team was called to clean up a large amount of diesel that spilled from the truck.
