Biden meets with 82nd Airborne troops stationed in Poland

Nearly 10,500 military personnel will deploy to Europe in the coming months to replace Army units already in the region, including Fort Bragg troops.

The 101st Airborne Division Headquarters from Fort Campbell in Kentucky will replace the 82nd Airborne Division Headquarters. The 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division from Fort Campbell will deploy around 4,200 troops to replace the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of Fort Bragg's 82nd Airborne Division in Poland.

Troops will not be going to Ukraine, but to ensure the defense of NATO countries.

"These deployments are a one-for-one unit replacements, which leaves our overall fore posture in the region - approximately 100,000 - unchanged," Lloyd said during a press conference at the Pentagon.

Fort Bragg troops deployed to Europe in February shortly before Russian troops invaded Ukraine.
