The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a triple homicide after discovering three bodies in an apartment while executing a search warrant.

Shortly before 1:45 p.m. on Friday, officers located human remains at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Orchard Trace Lane.

Detectives have identified the victims as Markayla Johnson, 22, Miracle Johnson, 4, and 7-month-old Messiah Johnson.

CMPD’s Homicide Unit is working in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office to officially confirm the victims' identities.

The investigation is ongoing.

On March 3, they were reported missing to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. After chasing down all the clues, police asked the public for help on March 8.

Police did not say how they determined that the three were victims of homicide.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Detective Planty, the lead investigator assigned to the case, at 704-432-TIPS.
