La Fiesta del Pueblo, organized by the local non-profit organization El Pueblo, will be held on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh.

The festival will feature performances from local musical artists and dance groups throughout the day and host numerous food trucks, artisanal vendors, organizations -- and even an entire block dedicated to kids' games and activities.

“We can’t wait to see the community show up to celebrate their pride in their roots at La Fiesta del Pueblo," said Migdalia Juárez, a community leader at El Pueblo. "We’re excited to engage folks at the festival with a participatory community art installation related to this theme created by our Leadership and Community Action Committee (CLAC)."

Juárez explained that attendees will be able to express what it means to be Latino through the “Pride in Our Roots Tree” created by CLAC members.

The main stage will feature performances from musical artists and dance groups representing diverse Latin American countries such as Mexico, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Peru.

"People who enjoy buying locally will have a chance to support any of the 23 local Latin American-owned artisanal vendors at the festival," said Helen Galeas, a youth fellow at El Pueblo. "And we’re telling people to come prepared to eat some good food from our 20 food vendors. They'll be selling food from various Latin American countries including Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, El Salvador and Honduras."

"This festival is a moment for the community to celebrate their culture and for the wider community to embrace the heritage of their neighbors this Latin American Heritage Month," said María González, deputy director of El Pueblo.

All activities will be street level with Fayetteville Street, which will be closed off all day Sunday.
