Triangle BBQ truck wins Tacopalooza

A food truck known for its barbecue took home top honors for its taco creation on Sunday.

The Humble Pig was one of eight local trucks competing in RDU Mobile Food Association’s (RDUMFA)'s Tacopalooza held at Knightdale Station.

The Humble Pig was honored for its regular menu favorite, the Pow Chow taco, which features a flash-fried corn tortilla stuffed with their pulled pork and topped with cucumber relish, Alabama White and sriracha sauces.

Bandido food truck placed second with its Oxaca taco. The third place award went to Curry in a Hurry and its lamb meatball taco.

In addition to the taco competition, there was also a taco eating contest. Daniel Mareko at 12 tacos of various sizes and flavors in 20 minutes to claim the prize.

RDUMFA’s next event, the Food and Funk Festival, planned Oct. 15 in Carrboro, will focus on food trucks and funk music.
