Heavy rain Monday afternoon caused a tractor-trailer to jackknife on the highway.

According to authorities, the crash happened on I-95 southbound near exit 56 in Cumberland County.

The crash, which the Eastover Fire Department said was weather-related, shut down traffic during rush hour on Monday.

Heavy rainfall caused slick roads in much of central North Carolina during WRAL Weather Alert Day on Monday.

NCDOT reported minor crashes in Apex, Benson and Raleigh because of the wet weather Monday night.

Cumberland County and its surrounding counties experienced the heaviest rain.

No one was hurt during the accident, but the NCDOT urged drivers to exercise caution during the rain with slick roads.
