Here's what's going on at the General Assembly on Wednesday, Oct. 23:

  • House Appropriations takes up a measure on broadband funding. (8:45 a.m., 643 LOB)
  • Senate Appropriations appears ready to roll out a "mini-budget" for teacher pay and school funding. (10 a.m., 643 LOB)
  • House Transportation Appropriations considers a proposal to provide more than $600 million to the Department of Transportation to alleviate a cash crunch. (10 a.m., 1228/1327 LB)
  • House Health will receive an update on Medicaid transformation. (10 a.m., 544 LOB)
  • Senate Pensions, Retirement and Aging takes up the teacher raise mini-budget. (11:15 a.m., 1124/1224 LB)
  • Senate Judiciary will consider changes to state abuse laws. (2 p.m., 1124/1224 LB)
  • The House has a vote on a UNC Board of Governors nominee and a measure to license birthing centers on its 2 p.m. floor calendar.
  • The Senate will hold its voting session at 4 p.m. and is expected to consider overriding a veto of a regulatory reform bill, as well as take up measures dealing with Hurricane Dorian relief for Ocracoke Island and two tax cut proposals.
