Today@NCCapitol: Tax cuts, Dorian relief and veto overrides

Here's what's going on at the General Assembly on Wednesday, Oct. 30:

• House Finance takes up bills to increase the standard deduction on individual income tax returns and to cut the franchise taxes charged to businesses. (9 a.m., 544 LOB)
• House Appropriations rolls out a Hurricane Dorian relief package. (10 a.m., 643 LOB)
• Senate Appropriations considers a supplemental budget for school funding and other needs. (1 p.m., 643 LOB)
• The House has five bills on its 2 p.m. floor calendar, including "mini-budgets" to provide teachers with pay bumps on the state salary schedule and funding for university and community college workers and state retirees and a proposal to use excuses to get out of jury duty as a means of purging suspected non-citizens from voter rolls.
• The Senate holds its voting session at 4 p.m., when it has seven bills on the calendar, including three possible veto override votes (state budget, regulatory changes and money to help Medicaid shift to a managed care system), a mini-budget for information technology and the voter roll purge measure.
