Texas Roadhouse employee who biked 3 hours to work gifted a car

Imagine riding a bike in the heat for three hours every day just to get to work.

That was a reality for one man who works at Texas Roadhouse in Paducah, Kentucky, but lives in Livingston County, about 30 miles away.

His commute just got a whole lot easier after the community paid it forward.

"I had no choice but to use a manual bike, and then that went out, and then God came and blessed me with all this," said Samson Adams.

Adams said he has to work to support his family, but now his work family and community are the ones supporting him.

It started when Texas Roadhouse community ambassador Joelle Long said she and her husband noticed Adams was tired at work. Then they learned his story.

"I started picking him up. We started talking," Long said. "The more I talked to him, the more I get to know him, the more I loved him. The more I felt like this guy really deserves someone to give him a little bit of help."

Long posted Adams' story on Facebook. The community, including his Texas Roadhouse family, immediately jumped at the opportunity to help.

Adams was surprised by the news.

"I thought I was in trouble ... I forgot to do something or maybe I shouldn't have ate that piece of bread on camera," Adams said. "You know, something simple like that. And she was like no, you're not in trouble, I got news for you. We got you a car. Just basically I didn't know what to think."

Adams calls the car a true blessing. His three-hour bike ride to work is now a 30-minute drive.

"Thank you very much Paducah. Come and see me at Texas Roadhouse. My name is Samson. I'll be the best server I can be," he said.

The leftover money from the GoFundMe will be used to pay for car insurance and gas.
