New conductors learn to drive the train at Pullen Park on Nov. 9.

Pullen Park will get spooky later this month for a Teen Fright Train experience.

The event is scheduled 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Oct. 30, at the park, 520 Ashe Ave., near downtown Raleigh. It's designed for kids ages 12 to 16.

Here's a description: "Gather your courage and your teammates to complete as many phobia-inspired challenges as you dare. Overcoming each fear may help you unravel this unsolved mystery."

Groups and individuals are encouraged, though kids will be paired together if they go alone. Costumes aren't allowed at this event.

It's free, but registration is required by Oct. 27. Call the park at 919-996-6463 for details.
