Teachers joined by parents, students in rally again for higher pay

Wednesday evening, the push for higher teacher pay was loud and clear in downtown Raleigh.

Teachers were joined in downtown Raleigh by parents and students, all in a rally for more money for teachers in our state. Some of them even pushed for an across-the-board raise for teachers.

Several groups chanted along the street corners in downtown Raleigh with signs in hand. Wake North Carolina Association of Educators put together the rally.

One teacher said the rally is not just about teachers, but it’s also for non-certified staff as well.

“All school employees deserve that raise and work hard, particular the folks that were left out of recent attempts, bus drivers, custodians and all the school support staff that is not certified staff," said Sheyne Klein. "They need this badly.”

Wednesday's rallies also took place at six Wake County Schools.
