The Taylor Family YMCA, located in Cary on 1010 YMCA Drive, is opening the swimming season under a new, retractable dome.

The "DynaDome," built by Clancy & Theys construction company, replaces an older "bubble" that covered the pools there. It is the first of its kind in the Triangle.

Both the Main and Oasis pools at the Cary Y had been closed during the construction. They open for the summer season, and swimmers will get to be under the dome, beginning May 14.

"The retractable pool enclosure allows swimmers to enjoy the pool when the weather is nice and when it isn’t," YMCA spokeswoman Jennifer Nelson said.
