Suspect's clothes found in slain Raleigh woman's apartment

Police collected possessions belonging to the suspect in the search of the home where a Raleigh woman was killed Sept. 6.

Christine Powell Parker, 44, was found unresponsive at her home at 4609-A Brockton Drive in Raleigh. She died at WakeMed the next day. The cause of death, according to police, was strangulation.

A search warrant released Wednesday lists clothes, documents and a gym bag belonging to suspect Robert Earl Ellis among the items seized in a search of Parker's apartment.

Ellis was being held without bond in the Wake County Jail. He is charged with Parker's murder.

Ellis was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in Wilson County in 1987, was put on probation, then served more than a year in jail for violating his probation, according to state Department of Correction records.

He was also convicted of resisting a public officer in Nash County in 1993.
