A man faces multiple charges Thursday night for stealing a City of Raleigh truck and carjacking a woman at Crabtree Valley Mall.

Thomas Kyle Cauther, 30, has been charged with Robbery, Felony Larceny of a Vehicle, Felony Probation Violation, Flee to Elude, and Resist Delay and Obstruct.

The incident took place Thursday afternoon around 2:05 p.m. when the Raleigh Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 2500 block of Lineberry Drive.

Cauther took a Ford F-450 owned by the city and crashed it on the parking deck at Crabtree Valley Mall, police said.

He then allegedly pulled a woman from a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer, threw her to the ground and drove away in her vehicle.

Through the Onstar technology, police were able to track and disable the vehicle remotely.
