Survey: Most would rather serve jury duty than pay their taxes

With the tax deadline of April 17 less than a month away, WalletHub surveyed taxpayers across the United States to generate the following feedback.

This report reflects the results of a nationally representative online survey of over 480 people conducted from Feb. 5 to Feb. 12, 2018.

What would you do for a tax-free future?

  • 27 percent would move to a different country
  • 24 percent would get an "IRS" tattoo
  • 22 percent would switch political parties

What do you like more than the IRS?

  • In-laws (29 percent)
  • Cold showers (13 percent)
  • Traffic jams (9 percent)

Is the IRS necessary?

  • There's lots of room for improvement (52 percent)
  • I hate it, but we need it (18 percent)
  • It should be abolished (13 percent)
  • They're doing a fine job (13 percent)
  • They're doing a great job (4 percent)

How do you feel about accountants?

  • They help a good deal (22 percent)
  • They are sometimes helpful (54 percent)
  • They are overpriced (21 percent)
  • They're a scam (3 percent)

What would you rather do than your taxes?

  • Go to jury duty (51 percent)
  • Miss a flight (27 percent)
  • Talk to your kids about sex (19 percent)

What are your biggest tax day fears?

  • Making a math mistake (30 percent)
