Sunday won't be quite as hot but temps will be on the rise again
Saturday was another really hot day. Sunday will see a slight decrease before the temperatures rise to what could be dangerous levels early next week.
Sunday will stay hot in the Triangle as high pressure builds. High temperatures were in the 90s on Saturday. Sunday will be slightly cooler with partly cloudy skies holding back some of the heat.
There's still a chance southeastern North Carolina could see isolated thunderstorms, but the Triangle is expected to stay mostly dry on Sunday. As a high-pressure system moves toward North Carolina early next week, temperatures will peak Tuesday at 95 degrees. The heat index could reach 105 that day because of high humidity.
A cold front moves in Wednesday, and there’s a better chance for thunderstorms as temperatures dip slightly.
