North Carolina Central University campus police arrested a student Monday in connection to threats made on social media against the school.

North Carolina Central University canceled its evening classes Monday due to the threat.

The university's police department received at a call at 3:50 p.m. Monday about a report of the social media post indicating a threat to campus. Police determined the threat was not credible.

The student, whose name was not released, was charged with communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property.

The university is also closing the James E. Shepard Library for the rest of Monday.

All residence hall visitations are also canceled for Monday.

All facilities will be open Tuesday and classes, activities and events scheduled for Tuesday will be held as planned, according to campus police.

Students are asked to be vigilant as they move about the campus.
