Stolen firearm found at Hobbton Middle School, juvenile in custody

A stolen gun was found on a Sampson County school campus Wednesday, leading to a juvenile being taken into police custody.

During dismissal at Hobbton Middle School, a student told a staff member about the possibility of another student carrying a gun.

School officials and police immediately took steps to secure the school, including stopping a bus and removing students for investigation.

A lockdown was placed while a search was conducted.

A search by officials resulted in the findings of a stolen gun on a juvenile, who was taken into custody.

The investigation revealed that at least four juveniles were involved with or had knowledge of the gun being on campus.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
