FedEx is planning to hire 70,000 workers, the company announced on Monday, as it gears up for the 2020 holiday season. The multinational delivery service says the majority of new hires will be seasonal employees.

A Fedex truck was hijacked before it crashed into a building in Greenville on Monday morning.

A witness told WITN she saw the Fedex driver jump out of the passenger side of the truck, another man then got in the truck and drove off.

Deputies said the Fedex driver had just finished making a delivery and was stopped in traffic when he was approached by a man. The driver jumped out of the truck fearing for his safety, according to deputies.

The truck thief drove the Fedex truck south in the northbound lanes, according to deputies, and crashed with an SUV that was stopped in traffic. The truck then crossed the median, lost control and crashed into a building near the intersection of South Memorial Drive and Farmville Boulevard, according to WITN.

The man jumped out of the truck and ran, but was taken into custody by police.

The two people in the SUV and the car hijacker were taken to Vidant Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
