State-run Web sites go down temporarily

Most state government Web sites as well as e-mail servers were down for nearly three hours Monday because of connection issues.

That included the North Carolina Employment Security Commission, Department of Transportation, General Assembly and Department of Justice Web sites.

Danny Lineberry, a spokesman for the state Office of Information Technology Services, said the connection issue meant spotty connections for anyone accessing sites and that state employees were also unable to send e-mails.

MCNC, the Research Triangle Park company that hosts the Web servers, was still looking into the issue Monday afternoon, Lineberry said.
