For the seventh time in ten wins, Southwest Guilford hung double figures on the scoreboard.

The Cowboys came out swinging on the first day of the Bobby Murray Invitational at Millbrook High School to the tune of an 11-1 win in five innings over Athens Drive.

Jack Bliven grounded into a fielder's choice in the bottom of the first to help plate a run and break the ice early.

Southwest left no doubt an inning later by breaking the game open with four runs. J.J. Parsons provided the big blow with a bases-clearing double to push the Cowboys ahead. His courtesy runner, Ryan Maness, scored a pitch later when Devin Hernandez rocketed a run-scoring single back through the box.

The extra runs were more than enough for junior Kaden Morgan who established his offspeed pitches early before reaching back for the heat as the game carried along. Morgan limited Athens Drive to just one run on a Troy Daniels sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth.

That cut the score to 7-1 after Southwest Guilford plated a pair in the third on an error and bases loaded walk.

Aiden McPherson had a big day at the plate, and earned an RBI for it in the fourth. His single gave the Cowboys an 8-1 lead through five.

The run rule went into affect after Morgan helped his own cause with an RBI hit to left, and two more came home to score.

Southwest Guilford is now 10-1 overall and 5-1 in league play. The Cowboys will wrap up their spring break tournament weekend on Saturday at Millbrook.
