A suspect has been arrested in a bank robbery that happened Monday in Southern Pines.

Southern Pines police said Herbert Lynn Lowery, 41, of Maxton, was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was taken before a magistrate on Tuesday and remanded to the Moore County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond. Lowery also has a court hearing on Oct. 1 in Moore County District Court.

Police said they responded to First National Bank at 185 W. Morganton Rd. in Southern Pines on Monday at around 11:23 a.m. to a report of a robbery. With assistance from the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office, Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Lowery was identified as the suspect in this case.
