Southern Pines man charged with bigamy

Southern Pines police said Monday that they have charged a 48-year-old man with bigamy.

Police said they first received a complaint about Gerald Leon Doyle Jr.'s marital status on Nov. 19, 2009. A subsequent investigation determined that Doyle was married to both a woman living out of state and a woman in North Carolina, police said.

Doyle was being held in the Moore County Jail Monday under a $5,000 secured bond. His next court appearance was set for Feb. 10.
