Cole Mill Road in Durham as crews work to repair snapped power pole

A road in northern Durham is closed in both directions due to a snapped power pole on Wednesday morning – and police say the impacts will last into the morning commute.

There was also a blown transformer, leaving dozens of Duke Energy customers without power Wednesday morning. Power appears to be restored, but the road is still closed.

Cole Mill Road is closed between Hillsborough Road and Interstate 85. At 1:30 p.m., Durham Police said the road will be closed for a few more hours as crews work to replace the power pole.

It's unclear what caused the damage to the power pole and transformer.
