Slide the City plans Raleigh return
Despite a heavily criticized event last year, Slide the City is planning to return to Raleigh this summer.
Early bird registration is now open for June 11 family-friendly slip and slide event at 200 Glenwood Avenue.
Slide the City features 120 gallons of water per minute rushing down a 1,000-foot water slide.
All sliders must use an inflatable tube.
Prices depend on how many times you want to slide. Single sliders pay $10 in advance, while Triple Sliders pay $20 and get a tube to use. These options require sliders to select a two-hour wave time in which to take their slide.
The VIP Slider ($40 in advance) will have unlimited sliding from 9 a.m. until noon on the slide day.
Prices go up in March and April.
The time options are in response to slider feedback from last year's sold out event.
Thousands attended, but many complained that they weren't able to slide multiple times, despite paying for the chance to do so. Large crowds and the logistics, including a not angled enough sliding surface, left many unhappy.
All sliders must bring a signed waiver to the event. You must be at least 5 years old and more than 46 inches tall to slide.
