Picks for Super Bowl 58

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs: Higher than 0.5 passing yards

As mentioned in the intro, this is a no-brainer. Yes, Mahomes has seen his passing yards decline this year as he’s worked with an inconsistent receiving corps, but the Chiefs’ offense has hit its stride this postseason. Travis Kelce is playing his best football of the year (more on him in a second) and Rashee Rice has emerged as a legitimate No. 1 target out wide. Mahomes should put up at least 200 passing yards in this matchup and certainly has the potential to reach 300+ yards depending on how the game progresses.

Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs: Higher than 70.5 receiving yards

So far this postseason, Kelce has put up 71, 75 and 116 receiving yards. He’s now had 2 weeks to rest since the win over the Ravens, so his age (34) shouldn’t be a factor on Sunday evening. He’s been Mahomes’ go-to guy for years, and this could be this duo’s last ride together. Mahomes will be looking for his star tight end early and often, allowing Kelce to rack up yards before halftime. Then, if the game is close in the fourth quarter, Kelce will be ready to be the Chiefs’ big-time playmaker once again.

Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers: Higher than 33.5 receiving yards

McCaffrey has been banged up a bit this postseason, but the off week between the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl surely did him some good. With a title on the line, look for Kyle Shanahan to get the ball in his best player’s hands early and often. As good as he is as a runner, McCaffrey might be even more dangerous coming out of the backfield as a receiver. He posted 42 receiving yards against the Lions in the NFC title tilt. I think he could go for 50+ in this matchup.

Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers: Lower than 61.5 receiving yards

The Chiefs have some of the best cornerbacks in the league. They don’t allow top receivers to beat them very often. Meanwhile, Aiyuk has been up and down in recent weeks. He finished the Packers game with 32 receiving yards and put up only 68 against the Lions’ porous pass defense. He’s seemingly taken a back seat to other weapons in the 49ers’ passing attack, so we’ll take him to come in just shy of 62 yards on Sunday.

How Many Picks Should You Make?

Sleeper uses a dynamic multiplier system, so every pick you make has a different payout. Thus, you can craft your contest to feature the amount of risk you’re comfortable with. I usually aim for between a 5x and 10x multiplier, which generally means about 3-4 separate picks.

The 4 picks I mentioned above combine for what would be around a 9.6x multiplier. That means a $5 entry fee would net around $48 in winnings if all 4 picks are correct.

If you want to play it safer, you can make as few as 2 picks (provided the players are on different teams) or as many picks as you want until your multiplier hits 100x. Just make sure you get your picks in before kickoff on Sunday!
