Sign your teen up for Raleigh's Counselor in Training Camp

Raleigh's parks department will host a Counselor in Training Camp for teens ages 14 to 16, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., from June 17 to June 21, at Walnut Terrace Park.

The program, according to the description, will give selected teens the information, training, and experiences to prepare them for positions as junior counselors and counselors in various organizations that work with kids. Teens will take part in team building and hands-on activities. "A high level of maturity is a must for participants," according to the description.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a week of training followed by an opportunity to volunteer for one week - totaling 40 hours - with one of the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department’s summer camps. The cost is $185 for residents and $200 for non residents.

Applications will be accepted from Feb. 1 to Feb. 28, 2019. All sections of the application must be completed. No late or incomplete applications will be considered. Applicants who are 16 years old and older must complete a city of Raleigh background check and will receive additional information on that process if selected, according to the city's website.
