Showers could decrease pollen count

After a week of progressively warmer and warmer temperatures that reached as high as the mid-80s, a cold front is forecast to sweep through and knock down our temperatures -- and our pollen count.

Saturday morning was warm, with temperatures in the 60s; however, after a day of light rain and spotty drizzle, the overnight low reaches down into the 40s.

"We have to watch for a few pockets of mist, even drizzle," said WRAL meteorologist Peta Sheerwood.

The pollen count for Saturday is fairly high, with tree pollen very prominent and grass pollen not too far behind.

However, some of that pollen could be washed away, as a better chance for more rain and showers moves in Sunday night, leading into Monday morning.

Temperatures will slowly decrease through out the day Saturday, leaving Sunday with highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s. Monday will also remain cool, with temperatures staying in the 50s. Tuesday should bring a warm up, with temperatures increasing once again through out the week, leading to 80-degree weather by next Friday.
