Shots fired near Raleigh apartment complex hit two units; no suspects in custody

Neighbors worry about safety after gunshots caught on cam

Residents living in a Raleigh neighborhood Wednesday say they feel unsafe after gunshots hit two apartment homes.

According to police, the shots happened Tuesday night on Walnut View Road in the Walnut Trace apartment complex, located behind a shopping center off of Rock Quarry Road.

One neighbor's camera captured the sound of as many as 10 gunshots.

No one was injured, according to police.

A woman who asked to remain anonymous said she and a friend who lives in the neighborhood don't feel safe.

"It's just scary. I've been shaken all day," she said. "I've been trying to process it."

The woman and other residents said they were thankful residents and shoppers nearby stray bullets didn’t hit shoppers.

"We hope people who know anything would step up, [because] it's not going to stop," the Raleigh woman said.

Police have not determined a motive, adding the shooting is under investigation.
